Vout = Vin × R2 / (R1 + R2)

The simplest way to step down a voltage. Only valid when the load draws negligible current — otherwise the load resistance must be in parallel with R2.
Example: Vin 9V, R1 1kΩ, R2 2kΩ → Vout = 9 × 2/3 = 6V
