How it works
The formula behind this calculator.

pH = −log₁₀([H⁺]); [H⁺] = 10^(−pH)

[H⁺]
Hydrogen-ion concentration (mol/L)

pH is a logarithmic scale. Each unit is 10× more concentrated in H⁺. pH < 7 is acidic, > 7 is basic, 7 is neutral.

Example: Pure water at 25°C: [H⁺] = 10⁻⁷ M → pH = 7 (neutral)

Tips
  • 💡 pH < 7 is acidic, > 7 is basic, 7 is neutral. Each unit is 10× more concentrated in H⁺.
  • 💡 Pure water at 25°C has pH 7. At 50°C it's about 6.6 — temperature matters.
